Hey, Charming!

Perched on the highest floor of the Naza tower, overlooking the beautiful Kuala Lumpur city skyline, you will find Blackbyrd.

A combination between restaurant and lounge, guests of Ismaya Group's 5-star wonder are invited to enjoy a delicious meal and then segue to the bar for drinks with a direct view of KL's most iconic landmark - the Petronas Twin Towers.

Blackbyrd is the place to be for those who favour comfort food over fine dining yet still want a little romance and elevation to their everyday dining experience.

Personally, this writer thinks the place is suited for the indecisive. With an extensive menu covering all sorts of local fusion favourites, you will find yourself spoilt for choice and happy as a bird.

- HOW TO GET THERE -

For those who less frequent the area, Naza Tower is located within Platinum Park, Persiaran KLCC, a neighbourhood known for its luxurious hotels, high rise office buildings, and high-end shop lots. Expect parking to be expensive.

To get to Blackbyrd, you will need to park inside Naza Tower. There is no direct lift to the restaurant. You will have to take the one from the parking area to Ground Floor and then ride the next one up to the restaurant. It takes about 10 - 15 seconds to get from Level G to the 50th floor. Upon exiting, you will be greeted by the host who will usher you to your table.

Reservation is not necessary but would be preferred.

- INTERIOR AND SERVICE -

Blackbyrd's atmosphere is warm and inviting; reminiscent of old England salons. The design of the restaurant incorporates a lot of wood, granite, and metal elements which give off an air of elegance and grandness to the space. Accordingly, all furniture, lightings, and tableware were created specially by craftsmen.

The bar lounge with its mighty impressive offerings of liquor.

Sunlight is abundant at Blackbyrd, especially during the mornings. This works for awesome photo opportunities.

The service overall at Blackbyrd was satisfactory. Servers were dressed smartly and attentive to their guests. They were also keen to offer assistance whenever photos were requested, even pointing out locations within the restaurant ideal for picture taking.

- THE FOOD -

As with all comfort food, Blackbyrd's did not disappoint. The taste of familiarity was welcomed.

Ordered the Crispy Nori Crunch (RM28), a concoction of spicy salmon, salmon roe and parmesan on top of a crispy tempura nori seaweed, and Wagyu Beef Satay (RM48) for starters. Both tasted delightful. The Wagyu was juicy and tender, whereas the accompanying peanut sauce was just the icing on top of the cake, making it that much tastier.

For mains, we had the Truffle Tagliolini (RM59) made with fresh truffle and truffle butter. Despite the short ingredient list, this pasta dish is one of a kind, something you should try if you are a truffle lover.

We wanted another main dish, so we went with fish and got the Honey Wasabi Glazed Salmon (RM58). The salmon was cooked to perfection, the skin was crispy, and the meat was tender. This dish errs on the sweeter side so savoury fans beware.

Finally, with dessert, we chose to go with a common restaurant offering -- Rum Infused Chocolate Brownie (RM28). 'Rich and chocolaty' would suffice as a description of it.

In all, Blackbyrd's aesthetics, city view, and food deserve commendation. If ever you have the opportunity, do give this place a try.
