Be Found at 'Am Found,' Setia Alam

Hey, Charming!

The dry spell is over! After months of being cooped up at home and not being able to produce any cafe-related content, I'm excited to be out in the world exploring again.

Being among those who suffered from major cafe hop withdrawal syndrome -yes, I made that up, and no, I will not apologize for it-, I was ecstatic when the government announced that eateries could resume dine-in and the nullification of the 10km travel rule within the district. After a quick internal debate over where I would pay my first honorary visit since the "release", I decided upon Am Found.

This shop lot boutique cafe opened at Sunsuria Forum, Setia Alam late last year in August. However, it is lesser-known to many and mostly frequented by those who live or work within the vicinity.

We arrived at the place half-past 1 on a Thursday afternoon, so there was a modest lunch crowd. Tables were still available so we sat ourselves at the largest one at the tail end of the cafe, closest to the windows where natural sunlight could filter in nicely for that 'gram-worthy picture.

A glance over Am Found's menu revealed minimal selections for food and desserts (there were only three types of selection of cakes - avocado cheesecake, pandan gula melaka cheesecake, and earl grey dark chocolate cheesecake), but quite a robust drink menu.

Aesthetic-wise, personally felt that the cafe had no central theme.

Rather, the decor carried vintage retro accents, sporadic scandi artwork, and some other contemporary furniture and little ornaments.

But hey, I'm no interior designer!

There were also a number of potted plant displays, a seemingly popular feature at cafes nowadays.

In terms of food, I highly recommend going for the classic Swiss brown sourdough.

Buttered and toast to perfection, the sourdough bread was every bit crunchy and tasty. On the insides was a beautiful savory concoction of ham, spinach, sauteed onions, and grated

cheese. I kid you not, this is one of the cafe's bestsellers.

The Sambalnara, on the other hand, is something you could venture trying. As its name suggests, this pasta dish combines local flavours with the basic carbonara.

In full honesty, it was not my favorite because of the greasiness of the pasta. The flavours also did not blend as well and it seemed that the spiciness from the sambal was too overpowering although my partner begs to differ. Instead, she found the dish to be quite delightful, proving there is a chance I could be wrong.

As for drinks, we ordered my standard cup of ice latte to go and for her, a pink grapefruit soda. No notable mentions here as both were pretty average.

Rating: 3.5/5

That's it for today. Until next time! :)

Sending lots of love,

Selene
